Preparing to leave the country 5/7/2025
In two short days, I will be leaving San Diego and heading to my first new country of the year. Work has me out in South Korea for about two weeks. I’ll spend about 12 days in South Korea for a combination of fun and work, then bop over to Japan for 3 days for work. I’m excited for South Korea. It is a country I have never been to and a location I probably wouldn’t have prioritized had it not been for my job. But now I have done so much research and gotten my self so excited I can’t believe this is a place I hadn’t considered.
I have a handful of beauty treatments booked, as expected in Korea. I have pinned loads of cafes and restaurants to visit, from affordable Michelin-star restaurants to solo Korean BBQ places. Apparently, restaurants can be a challenge at times for solo travelers in Korea, so doing research in advance is a necessity. This is a lot more planned out than I usually do my trips, but I think it will be a good change of pace for me. I decided to front load my PTO for this trip and then do the three 2-day visits afterwards. I am not spending any free time in Japan, but I am excited to go back to the country for a quick moment. I will eat as much ramen, sushi, and waygu that I can in my 72 hour stop in Japan.
I’ll be back in Japan in August as well. I am incredibly lucky that my job is sending me on 4 different international trips this year, so I am knocking things out of the park. I missed being on the road. This stopover at home has been beautiful. I have felt so filled with love and friendship while I have been home. I have had many new adventures, I have met new humans, and I remembered that I don’t have to be on the road to find immense amounts of joy. Next time you hear from me I’ll be in Korea!!
